ABOUT HUMAN SIGNALS

Less performance.
More presence.

Human Signals is a slower social space for people navigating modern life. It was created for genuine observation, thoughtful conversation, human connection, and the moments that often disappear beneath the noise of conventional social media.

Here, people can leave Signals, meet other members, join groups, ask questions, exchange perspectives, and find opportunities to connect beyond the screen.

Human Signals is not asking you to build a more impressive identity. It is inviting you to be more present inside the life you already have.

WHY IT EXISTS

Social media taught us how to be visible.
It did not always teach us how to be known.

Many online platforms reward speed, comparison, polished images, constant updates, and the performance of a life that appears complete.

Human Signals takes a different approach. The value of a contribution is not measured by how impressive it looks. It is measured by whether it notices something real, opens a meaningful conversation, or helps another person feel less alone.

Less performance

No pressure to appear successful, constantly active, perfectly happy, or permanently certain of who you are.

More presence

More room to notice, reflect, ask, listen, connect, and share something honest about the world around you.

LEAVE A SIGNAL

A Signal is not the same as posting a moment.

A conventional social media post often says: “Look at where I am, what I have, or how my life appears.”

A Signal asks something different: “What did I notice here, and what might this mean to another human being?”

A social media moment

A photograph may be selected mainly because it is attractive, impressive, entertaining, or likely to receive attention.

The focus is often the person posting, the image they want to project, or the reaction they hope to receive.

“Perfect afternoon at the best café in the city.”

A Human Signal

A Signal begins with an observation, experience, question, feeling, interaction, or detail about modern life.

It does not have to be dramatic or polished. It simply has to leave something meaningful for another person to notice.

“I noticed that the café became quieter when an older man sat alone. One stranger asked if he wanted company. The whole atmosphere changed.”

HOW THE PLATFORM WORKS

Different ways to connect, without turning connection into noise.

Human Signals combines familiar social features with a calmer purpose. Each part of the platform offers a different way to participate.

01 — SIGNALS

Leave a Signal

Share an observation, photograph, place, experience, question, or small truth about modern life. Other members can respond, comment, and continue the conversation.

02 — MEMBERS

Meet the people behind the Signals

Discover other members, view their profiles, follow their activity, build friendships, and connect with people whose experiences or perspectives speak to you.

03 — GROUPS

Move connection into real life

Join or create groups around shared activities such as coffee conversations, walks, creativity, food, culture, wellbeing, books, and starting over. Groups can help people organise local meetups rather than remaining online only.

04 — QUESTIONS

Ask and answer thoughtfully

The forum offers rooms for questions, reflection, advice, and shared experience. It is a place to ask something that may need more space than a short comment and to learn from the perspectives of others.

BEYOND THE SCREEN

The platform is a beginning, not the destination.

Human Signals does not exist to keep people endlessly scrolling. Its groups are designed to help people move from online discovery into real-world connection: a conversation over coffee, a walk, a museum visit, a shared meal, a creative session, or simply the experience of being somewhere with other people.

The online space helps people find one another. The human experience continues beyond it.

COMMUNITY PRINCIPLES

What we want Human Signals to feel like.

These principles guide the culture of the platform.

Presence over performance

Participate without needing to create a perfect version of yourself.

Curiosity over judgement

Ask before assuming and recognise that every life contains context you cannot see.

Conversation over competition

The goal is not to win attention. It is to create understanding.

Connection over numbers

A meaningful exchange matters more than follower counts or popularity.

Safety with humanity

Respect boundaries, consent, privacy, difference, and the dignity of other members.

Online to offline

Use technology as a bridge to fuller human participation, not as a substitute for it.

POWERED BY ARISE STORIES

Reflection continues through stories.

Human Signals is connected to Arise Stories, a reflective publishing platform exploring identity, belonging, systems, work, relationships, migration, modern life, and the pressure to perform who we are.

Human Signals creates the community space. Arise Stories provides longer essays, reflections, quotes, guides, books, and creative work for people who want to go deeper.
