SAFETY AT HUMAN SIGNALS

Connection should never require you to ignore your boundaries.

Human Signals was created to support genuine conversation, respectful community, and meaningful connection both online and in real life.

Safety is not only a set of rules. It is a shared practice built through consent, privacy, clear boundaries, thoughtful behaviour, and the willingness to speak up when something does not feel right.

You are never required to share personal information, continue a conversation, accept an invitation, or meet someone in person.

A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

A safer community depends on how we treat one another.

Human Signals provides the space and moderation tools, but every member contributes to the culture people experience here.

Respect boundaries

Accept when someone does not want to reply, share more, join a group, move to private messaging, or meet in person.

Protect privacy

Do not publish another person's private details, photographs, messages, location, or identity without permission.

Respond with humanity

Disagreement is allowed. Harassment, humiliation, intimidation, discrimination, and personal attacks are not.

COMMUNITY EXPECTATIONS

Participate in ways that preserve dignity and trust.

These expectations apply to Signals, comments, profiles, messages, groups, forum discussions, photographs, and real-world meetups organised through Human Signals.

01 — CONSENT

Do not pressure people

Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time. Repeated unwanted messages, invitations, flirting, requests, or attempts to continue contact are not acceptable.

02 — RESPECT

Challenge ideas without attacking people

Members may have different experiences and views. Respond to the subject being discussed without insulting, degrading, mocking, threatening, or targeting the person behind it.

03 — HONESTY

Represent yourself truthfully

Do not impersonate another person, create deceptive identities, misrepresent your intentions, or manipulate members into sharing money, private information, or access to other accounts.

04 — PRIVACY

Share only what belongs to you

Do not expose private conversations, personal records, phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, family information, or identifying details about another person without clear permission.

CLEAR BOUNDARIES

Behaviour that does not belong here.

Human Signals may remove content or restrict accounts involved in the following:

  • Threats, stalking, intimidation, coercion, targeted harassment, or encouraging others to pursue or attack someone.
  • Hate speech, dehumanising language, or targeting people because of identity, nationality, ethnicity, disability, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or another protected characteristic.
  • Sexual harassment, unsolicited sexual content, exploitative behaviour, or any attempt to sexualise or endanger a minor.
  • Publishing private or identifying information without permission, including addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or live locations.
  • Fraud, phishing, impersonation, deceptive fundraising, recruitment schemes, financial manipulation, or requests for account credentials.
  • Spam, repetitive promotion, unauthorised advertising, mass messaging, or using the community primarily to sell or recruit.
  • Content that encourages immediate violence, serious self-harm, exploitation, abuse, or dangerous illegal activity.
  • Deliberately disrupting groups, discussions, meetups, or reporting systems in ways that prevent other people from participating safely.

YOUR PRIVACY

Share thoughtfully. The internet is not a private room.

Avoid publishing your home address, personal phone number, financial details, passwords, official identification, travel itinerary, or precise live location.

Before posting a photograph, check what appears in the background. House numbers, vehicle registrations, work passes, school uniforms, documents, and location markers may reveal more than you intended.

Be especially careful when sharing information about children, family members, colleagues, clients, or anyone who has not agreed to appear on the platform.

Screenshots and copies can exist beyond the original post. Share only what you are comfortable placing in a public or semi-public space.

MEETING IN REAL LIFE

Move beyond the screen without leaving caution behind.

Human Signals groups may help members organise coffee conversations, walks, meals, cultural visits, creative sessions, and other local activities. Members organise and attend these meetups at their own discretion.

Choose a public place

Meet in a café, library, museum, park, community venue, or another populated and familiar location.

Tell someone your plans

Share the venue, time, organiser's details, and expected return time with a trusted friend or family member.

Arrange your own transport

Keep control of how you arrive and leave. Avoid depending on a new acquaintance for transportation.

Protect personal information

You do not need to reveal your home address, workplace, financial information, or other sensitive details.

Trust discomfort

You may leave at any time. You do not need to remain polite when your safety or boundaries feel uncertain.

Use extra care with children

A responsible adult should supervise minors. Do not arrange private one-to-one meetings between unfamiliar adults and children.

SCAMS AND MANIPULATION

Genuine connection should not require money, secrecy, or urgency.

Be cautious when someone asks for money

Do not send money, gift cards, banking details, cryptocurrency, verification codes, passwords, or account access to someone you know only through the platform.

Treat urgent stories, investment opportunities, job offers, romance-based requests, and secret arrangements with care.

Keep important conversations visible

Be cautious when someone immediately pressures you to move to another messaging service, delete messages, hide the relationship, or avoid discussing the interaction with people you trust.

Report accounts that impersonate others, promote suspicious links, request credentials, or appear designed to manipulate members.

REPORTING A CONCERN

You do not have to manage harmful behaviour alone.

Contact Human Signals when you encounter harassment, threats, impersonation, privacy violations, scams, unsafe meetup behaviour, hate, exploitation, or other conduct that may place someone at risk.

When reporting, include what you safely can.

Helpful information may include the username, group, Signal, forum room, approximate date, relevant link, and a clear description of what happened. Screenshots can help, but do not put yourself at further risk to obtain them.

HOW MODERATION MAY RESPOND

Responses depend on the behaviour, context, and level of risk.

Human Signals may take steps including:

  • Reviewing reported content, accounts, groups, or discussions.
  • Removing content that conflicts with community safety expectations.
  • Warning a member or limiting access to certain functions.
  • Suspending or removing an account.
  • Preserving relevant records where reasonably necessary.
  • Contacting appropriate services when there appears to be an immediate and credible risk of serious harm, where legally required or appropriate.

Moderation cannot guarantee that every harmful interaction will be prevented. Members should continue using personal judgement, privacy precautions, and appropriate emergency services when needed.

Human Signals is not an emergency service.

If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact the emergency services available in your location rather than waiting for a platform response.

If you are concerned about self-harm, abuse, violence, exploitation, or another urgent safety issue, seek support from an appropriate local crisis, health, safeguarding, or law-enforcement service.

HELP PROTECT THE SPACE

Notice the person.
Respect the boundary.

Safer communities are built through clear expectations, thoughtful participation, and people willing to speak up.
